Hello, I'm Nicola, and I'd like to share the story behind 'MEETING ME' cards.
The journey started when someone told me, "Anyone can draw!"
Despite never seeing myself as an artist and not having picked up a pencil for years, I began expressing my feelings through simple 'stick people' drawings.
It turned out to be very therapeutic and opened up a new world of self-discovery.
Sometimes talking about my emotions felt like solving a puzzle, so I took these sketches to my therapy sessions. They became a gateway to deeper conversations with my therapist. With her guidance and these cards, I found the right words to express exactly how I felt.
Soon, I had a box full of images, each telling a unique story.
That's when it dawned on me – these cards might be helpful to others.
As a counsellor, I decided to integrate them into my counselling sessions with adults and young people. The cards created pathways to conversations and gave a voice to those who found it hard to find the words to express how they were feeling. This positive response made me think about how many others could benefit from using them.
I'm so excited to introduce 'MEETING ME' cards to you. My hope is that they ignite many journeys of self-discovery.
